1.022 is fine if you keep it at that level. choose a level of sg between 1.020-1.025 and just keep it constant. thats the same ATO i use it works good but you will need to clean the float switch in the tank from time to time so it doesn't get stuck and keep pumping.

+1. That is fine. I actually still don't have an ATO. I just top off everyday. The float switch is to big and I don't have a place to hide it like on the AIO tanks.
I get some salinity swing between top offs but doesn't seem to negative effect the corals I have. But again, I have some easy to keep corals so all is good.I ate my fish that died.

Some updates. In the first pic you can see the diatoms covering the sand and in the second pic you can see what I assume is coraline and green algae growing on the rock

Try to get some DIBS turbo snails.

Really, I would just wait it out. I prefer to add the CPC (clean up crew) after the cycle.

Don't need to do a WC. Just do top offs.
This is a debated subject. But generally, if you have no live stock in the thank then just leave it be.
The die off will generate the needed ammonia to kick start the cycle.I ate my fish that died.
