I got some badass Lps/softie food. Remind me when you stop by. But lately my corals are just getting fish poop for food.

The total volume of the 60p is only 16 gallons, minus the sand and live rock you're looking at roughly 12 gallons + 4-5 gallons in the sump and you got about 16-17 actual gallons. Xp1000 is rated for 125 I believe. So you're about 7 times overskimming. But I have seen someone use a xp1000sss on a 25 total gallon system. He only has 3-4 fish I think.

For reference my total gallonage is about 55-60 and I have a skimmer rated for 180g. Skimmate is pretty dark but not pitch black like some of the other guys on marsh. Tank is stocked medium to heavy with fish.

Just throwing my €2 out there.

        Ok, a little update.

Went with the maxspect g2 160w as my main light and the PAR 30s will sit in box as back-up.

I plan to hang it tomorrow....if I don't drink to much watching football.

Ok, finally got some time to work on my tank this weekend.

            Maxspect un-hung.

Maxspect finally hung. Took me 20 mins but I finally got it leveled.

Vortech velcro stickered on the side of the stand.

Let me know what you guys think!

Works like a charm so far. Very little heat. Stays cooler then any light I had on a planted tank or reef.

Really nice 14k look with the blue and whites on.

Look in AI lighting, Miggy. It's cash money but super clean.

Wasn't hard to hang from the ceiling at all! At least it was easier then I thought.

I got some 50 pound sheetrock studs and busted out the ruler.

I post as soon as I get my d90 from my house. I still need a macro so bad.

Yeah, and that's not even max. I don't use the two 30w LEDs.

That's would be to much power for my corals right now.

                        That's tight.

Quick question, what size pump u using? Isn't that overflow rated at 200gph?
                        Damn this hobby......

                          Hey Bass,

Thanks man. The eshopps nano overflow is rated for 240pgh I think. I got a mag 2.5 on it.

I honestly think it could take more flow but it makes a lot (and I mean A LOT) of noise.

I added a ball valve and lowered the flow rate some.

Most of my circulation comes from the vortech.

Debated long and hard over which skimmer to use. I didn't want to risk it with the biggest baddest skimmer and end up with micro bubbles all over my tank.

I decided on something more reasonable. Narrowed it down to the tunze or the bubble magus. End up going with the bubble magus nac3+ just because I thought it looked better than the tunze. Reviews are mix on this skimmer but I decided to give it a try anyhow.

Here some pictures of the install process.

Skimmer came in packed very well.

                                right out of the box.

Plug and play, very simple set up.

In the sump it goes. The skimmer made a sucking noise so I did this "pill bottle mod." Shots out to Trung.

Sorry, Totally flaked and forgot to take a picture of the skimmer in the actually sump. The skimmer's foot print is small and fits the sump well.

I'll take a full sump shot the next time I remember too.

Over all I'm please with the skimmer. It's been running for a day and produced tea colored skimmate. I expect the skimmate to get darker as bio-load increases and the skimmer actually breaks in.

The noise coming for the intake hose was bad at first. It sounds like the dishwasher was on but after the "pill bottle mod" I hear the vortech pimp more then I hear the skimmer.
I ate my fish that died.
