a syringe pump is less likely to clog. The peristaltic pump will trap food particles in that little tubing it uses to pump, also harder to clean. for food with bigger particulates in there... syringe is the way to go.

Additionally, a peristaltic pump would need a bigger fridge for sure. I plan to keep my syringe pump in a smaller wine chiller so it's not as cool as a fridge but should bring it down to 45F-55F. The wine chiller will sit right next to my tank and I have a small place for the chiller. A mini fridge would be to big for me at the moment.
It's was to early to say which one is best, in my case (as I have also not tried a peristaltic pump for NPS feeding purposes). I think there is more options with the peristaltic pump. You can feed the entire FM line, frozen foods, whatever you want really. However there are a number of reports on other forums regarding the peristaltic pumps and it's more work in terms of maintenance. When using the syringe pump the only thing that gets dirty and needs changing out is the syringe.
There has also so been mix reports regarding clogging and peristaltic pumps. Many have reported that there is an issue with Shellfish diet and clogging up the lines and they have to clean the peristaltic tubing frequently.
IMHO, the syringe pumps are easier to deal with and better controls in terms of precise dosing amounts. The smaller doses are important b/c roti fest and shellfish diet is some potent stuff. It will jack up your water quick if you add more than your system can process. I think, if I had a bigger tank and I needed to dose a large amount of RF or SD, then I would have went with a good peristaltic pump. For way, I have a 20g tank so i don't need that much. A syringe full of food can last me for days on end.
Hope that helps!I ate my fish that died.
