OK so I have an idea in my noggin that I am pretty sure will work. Basically I will be building a protein skimmer. Its gonna be a bit big for the tank. But so far all of my reading and watching videos I cant find anything that says it will hurt the tank. Kinda just putting a big filter on it. With a slower flow the skimmer has more time to pull the junk out of the water so it should work more efficiently than a smaller "nano" rated skimmer.

    Any suggestions?

You can try a hang on back protein skimmer, it may work for a 10G but it maybe too big for your tank.
