  • This is what I'm going to run in my system when I start needing it.
I ate my fish that died.

    • he high pH of the liquid and the dust hazard of the solid are not to be treated lightly. Inhalation of the dust is to be avoided. Splashing of limewater onto skin is also to be avoided, and should be followed by extensive rinsing with tap water if it happens.
      that sounds scary foo...j/k lol..
2 parts does get really expensive when doing a big tank...so i think limewater is better option for big tanks..
since i dont even have a ato..from the reading that doing limewater can cost problems...
so i need to either get a good ato, or 2 parts for now lol...
and see if you can find some commercial lime thai...the ones packaged by two little fishes are expensive lol...

yea the ac can control all of that. But for thai he doesn't have any of that stuff lol. It can also control chillers and heaters. More than once i've heard of people chillers or heaters messing up and either chilling or heating the tank to the point everything dies.

esp of you have kids, i've heard some people lost whole set up cus kids play with the buttons and mess up the temp in the tank. With the controller it'll stop the chiller if it gets to cold.

Brian, I thought you were doing calc reactor... if you're doing 2 part you can get either the 1.1mL or the 50mL. 50mL would probably be better for you. But you'll need a really good controller that can use seconds. Lets say you need 40mL a day.

So with the 1.1mL i need 36minutes. I can use a cheapo walmart/home depot timer and set it for 30 minutes. With a digital timer you can set 36 exact.

With the 50ml, i need .8 minutes. Exactly 48 seconds. The only thing that can control that is an expensive aquacontroller. Reefkeeper or apex/aquacontroller

        • blah!!! i wrote a long butt post about dosing and what to dose... but i accidently deleted it... so imma just write cliffs.

for a big tank, it depends on what you plan on keeping. Kalkwasser might do it for you for a while, but it will eventually not be able to keep up with your alk/calc demands. Unless you don't plan on stocking much coral. In the end you either need 2 part dosing or a calc reactor. 2 part is easier to adjust and you don't have to deal with low ph from the ca rx reactor. But calc rx is cheaper in the long run. 2 part is cheap too if you buy from the right place.

          Cheap kalkwasser (lime water)

            • the 1.1mL should be better for that then... since you don't wanna dose too much.

All the plankton food ive seen needs refrigeration. Usually after opening it... The best ones require refrigeration even at the store.

SPS need clean water and strong lights more than anything.

                • i think my sps grew faster when i fed them oyster feast and phyto. But after a while that stuff jacked up my water. Then sps turned brown. So i've been laying off the food lately, color is coming back but growth seems slow.

Thats why im doing zeovit. So i can put whatever i want in my tank lol. over feed like crazy and it'll still be ok.

                  • yeah, I like feeding my corals man.

I got my three headed dendro to open all day and night now.

I feed a mysis every 3-4 hours during the day.

It would help if I had 20'' + forceps to work with!

my @ss gets bored at work. I might start on my diy LED fixture for the frag tank. I might do 4-6 bulb t5 though. Maybe 150w mh

                          • Trong,

Can you make forceps with the 45 degree angle tips at work?

                            ADA style?

I need it 20'-22". I don't want to touch my water while feeding.

                              • maybe but you need high quality steel. I dont have access to that... plus i would make it pretty ghetto lol. Lower grade steel will rust and could containment the tank.
