stupid stupid stupid. I put in about 20 gallon of tap water about a week ago to keep the live rock wet. Should I drain it all and start over?

wait.... just tap water? or saltwater made from tap water?

either way, just throw it in. You're gonna have to cycle the tank anyways.

The LR stuff will probably love the tap water salt mix since it's high in nitrogen. But you will probably have to battle algae in the main tank. But like Trung said just throw it in you are going to have to cycle anyways.

I still recommend RO. Tap has too much bs in it.

Don't want anything leeching into the roccks.

But then again, that process takes a long time.

Also, I would recommend cycling without lights.

                    Really?!

What are the po4 levels out of your tap water?

If you've seen the filters after even a few hundred gallons, then you'll never use tap again. I've seen some people get away with using tap on reef central, but places like new York and Hawaii where tap water is so clean they don't even filter it. Straight from the source with pods and everything still in it.

                        +1.

I also think it depends on the corals and the equitment you got set up.

If you have good media and a big fuges it's for sure doable.

I'm sure softies and Lps will live in it.

But mother colony of sensitive sps would not like it much.
