Okay . . . I'm going to make progress on the tank tonight if it kills me. I drained the tank (it was freshwater). Can I use spray paint on the PVC tubes for the wet/dry? I read that Krylon Fusion is okay for saltwater . . . is it true?

Don't know about the spray paint...
But if I'm guessing correctly...you want to use a black background on your 90p?
Maybe just buy a big sheet of green star polyp and glue it to the overflow to cover all the PVC inside of it? I have some corals to get you started.I ate my fish that died.

It's going to turn purple in the end so it won't matter.

haha tim is going over to the dark side. Its been sooo long since a ran a salt. and i have had too many other projects to worry about to try again lately. but i agree with the suggestions for corals so far. softies are much easier to keep. Large stonies can do well or crap out, and sometimes with no rhyme or reason. SPS are so finiky i dont even want to think about it. But I have a few other suggestions, You said you were planning on other inverts. I love all the different things you can add to a reef system. all the tiny organisms moving around really make me think of a more natural reef setting. But there are a few i would avoid.
Coral Banded shrimp= kills other inverts
Arrow Crab= kills other inverts
Most rock type crabs= kills other inverts.
Sally lightfoot crab= kills whatever it can grab once it get big
Serpent or brittle start= sometimes they are fine and other times they will eat whatever they can get
Inverts I like=
Fire Shrimp, Cleaner Shrimp, Pistol shrimp with watchman goby (sooo cool to watch together), Emerald crab (good to help with alge control but MAY pick a little at soft corrals, never was an issue for me), And for some reason I love Camel shrimp, cant explain it, they just are cool to me. oh and hermit crabs and snails for clean up crew, I prefer a variety for looks. that way its not like 15 blue legged hermits or 30 astrea snails.Never fear I is here
