Dude, you can do a 10g. I have a 5g nano reef before. Like darbex said, bigger is always preferred but less it ok too.

If you don't want a sump, you should look into an AIO (All in one) set-up. All the media and filtration system is in the back of the tank.

Lol, and that's why i gave you advice.

LR, water, and power head.

Next on the list should be lights and filtration.

I would go with one or two PAR30 or PAR38 for lighting.

AC70 modded for heater, fuge, and media

You really don't need anything else. The LR is the filter media so all you really need is a powerhead to move water.

However, you may want a place to house your heater, media baskets, and/or run a fuge.

A cheap solution is to run a modded HOB filter.

It can cost as much as you want to spend.

I would get the biggest AC you can put a little bag of carbon in it and get a small clip on light on it and put some LR rubble in it with some cheato.

I suggested based on my experience not what you read off some care sheet on the internet, which is what makes a forum so great, it's based off of real experiences based off people that share the same interest.

I'm sure the reason why it was posted on a forum was to gather information from several sources and then the end decision is always gonna be solely on that person.

You have contributed nothing to this thread other than disagreement with what I posted and maybe cause you have personally failed doing it like so or you have your own methods which you have yet to share.
