I sympathize with your predicament Brad, but guess it's lesson learned, sometimes being cheap is not the best way to go.
It's times like these when you need friends, that's why it's not a good idea to alienate people by coming off as a braggart or flippant...

    Hope you get it sorted.
    Good Luck.

Wow! Thanks you guys for all the helpful and inspiring comments. I know I have been hard headed, I get that from my fathers side, but I am going to be more open minded. I did go out and buy a new metal halide pendant for my reef set up. The only down side is that it doesn't have a night setting. I plan on researching some nice metal halide/flourecent fixtures for the future, it probably birthday present(which is next week). I'm really glad to see I'm not the only one that has learned the hard way. I will keep it up, and what was nice is that my parents helped me get the light. They don't like my fish tanks but I love them! I will keep at it and I will bite my tongue and face the fact and listen next time. You guys bit your tongues, now it's my turn. Thank you.

That's great that you're parents are willing to buy you a new light and that you're not going to quit because of one disaster. Your parents might not like your fish tanks because of the increased bills (water, electricity, equipment, etc). I'd also assume most of your money actually came from them (allowances, etc)? It's not cheap to run a sw setup not to mention added everyday costs.

Glad your tank is turning around, a lesson sometimes is learned from your own process thinking and reasoning than it is from others telling you! Glad you have a better outlook now..
