So the issue here is the light is sitting on the filters. It works just ghetto and sketchy.
Its a 24 inch tank and a 24 inch light. so its sits on top just barely.shallow 2.jpgshallow.jpg

Build a hanger for it. Measure, cut and bend some pipe and wire. Wood could also work. A sheet of plexiglass cut to fit and use some PVC 1" cut sections to raise it to allow ventilation. Lots of options, just depends on what you have access to and are comfortable doing

I'm not familiar enough with saltwater lighting requirements. I know freshwater planted tank requirements and it would have shadowed areas in a 24 x 24 tank. Suspending a Halide would probably be the easiest option with the best spread and spectrum. Something like this would look nice and probably allow you the freedom to keep whatever livestock you wish.

I've learned in the saltwater hobby trying to find a nice, cheap light is hard. I ordered this light: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=51504972152 about 3 months ago and have nothing but good things to say about it. Of course I switched out the bulb and now am running 150 watt 14k Hexarc bulb. If you have the extra cash I would go for this one. You will never have to worry about wondering if you have enough light for the types of corals you want. Total output is 178 watts. Something to considered. Also has extendable legs. Nice light for the price.

Id watch the oddessy lights from what Ive been told the ballast burn out..... Ill give the same advice Ive recieved and thats if your going to do corals spend your money buying the best light/equiptment possible 1st so you dont waste money upgrading this would be a good light here http://houston.craigslist.org/for/3784728669.html not sure if its a 150 or 250 watt halide but it has the halide and T5 combo or find a Tek light I believe someone here has a 24" one for sale

If you decide to go with an Odyssea light keep the external ballast away from anything combustible, like that wooden spool you are using for a stand. The ballast problems were reported long ago so I took a chance and bought one late last year and they apparently haven't been fixed yet.

If I hadn't been home when it happened three months after purchase I probably would have lost my house or atleast the master bedroom. The ballast casing is metal but the ends of it are plastic and as we all know plastic burns. I've been thorugh one fire in 2005 in anbother house and that was enough so I can guarantee you there will never be another odyssea product in my house.
