  • The Journey Begins

So a month ago I purchased a 210g aquarium and stand for a great price. I am now in the stages of bringing my tank from the ground up and wanted to keep a log of my progress. It will be a marine fish only tank( i don't think i'm ready for the reefs yet). I am a ways off from having the tank set up. I still need a filter, lights, heater, uv sterilizer, salt, sand, and live rock. As I progress with my tank I will be posting updates. Any help are suggestions are of great value to me.

So when I first saw the stand it was in horrible shape as far as the finish goes. So the first thing I did was pull out the sander and the brushes. I purchased a gel stain and wipe on gel polyurethane by General Finishes. The color stain I used was Java. Check it out!

Great to see another tank threat!

Pro tip #1: alway take it slow.
Pro tip #2: always plan in case you change to reef later.
Pro tip #3: use a skimmer (biggest best used one you can found) and RODI water.
pro tip #4: don't need the UV sterilizer.

Ok, now to the stand. SW will jack wood up vs FW. You want to coat the inside of your stand with something.
I learned the hard way and messed up an ADA stand bc of this. This time around I coated the inside of my Elos 70 with shower curtains. This protective coats the inside from sale creep and general water damage. I can post pictures if you want but it'd kinda straight forward.

If I could do it again (on a cheaper stand), then I would raino spray the whole inside of the stand. That will protect it for years!

P.S. great start and read as much of the stickies has possible and keep asking questions. :)
I ate my fish that died.
