  • Koriala nano question

so i went into city pets today and noticed the k-nanos came in two levels... one pushed 240 gph while the other did 420 gph i think... soo which one would be better for my 12 gal nano.... im trying to get my equipment first.... so the 240 or 420? or 2 240's?

Depends on what you want to keep. More than likely I would go with the more powerful one. I have a MP10 on my 28G and run it at about half speed which is roughly 800 - 900GPH so. I turn the water over about 30x an hour.

I had a maxijet mod on my old nano 12g dx.

It was good flow but doesn't have the same coverage as a mp10...but then again what does.

I'm running a Maxijet 1200 for my return and works great. I bought online. Here's link to my build on Marsh.

I assume you are talking about light diffusers. You can get that at home depot or lowes in the light department.

I wouldnt worry about it for that size tank. You wont have enough rocks to cause a problem. I dont have it in my tank and I have roughly 40lbs of rocks

You want to put the rocks first, then sand. Reason being, is if you get a fish that likes to dig, it will dig all the sand out from under the rocks, and you have a massive rock slide that falls into the glass and breaks it. You want the bottom rocks secure. I have heard individuals setting rocks on pvc pipe so that they are not buried by the sand. This will raise the rock the height you cut the pvc. This way, 20 to 30 % of your rock is not under sand. It appears the rocks are on top of the sand, yet they are still stable in case fish try to dig out from under them.
