Bigger is not always better. Money play's a big factor in my home. Besides, I have to start off slow and and Acclimate the wife. Or Boss, which ever you prefer to call her.

Instead of putting her in the water and letting her get used to it, i'm putting her in the water to cool off.

It's my Friday humor. Some of you may actually understand and get it.

I would also agree with a bigger tank. my biggest was a 75g but a true reef was only 30g and I spent probably more than what most would spend on a larger tank.

The biggest tank your money can buy is always better makes it easier to keep params stable. As for the light its up to you, 2 MH on a 40 to me is over kill. You could do LED stunners or PC to save money because you really dont care about PAR. Now if you were ever to go reef then you will already be set at lights.

I would run both of those over the 75g... that would grow some mad algae and it would pretty cool as a FOWLR. but thats me.

Fish don't need light like corals do.

I say start with the 40g and go from there.

Fish live in the same body of water that the sun shines on just like corals do.

I think these lights may be waaaay more than what I need. Maybe someone here might be able to use them.
