  • The water jugs sold in LFS have a pre threaded cap, all you need is to punch out the hole and you can get the fitting for it in the water plumbing section at home depot and then grab you a float valve that has the nozzle that opens when the float drops, I think eshopps is the on that makes it.

    • For Aquarium, RO DI Reverse Osmosis System. MINI Adjustable Plastic Float Valve. This is the smallest adjustable float valve in the world. -Valve Material : POM. -Ball Material : POM. Flexible arm can adjust the water level without the relocation of mount position.

Is the valve Im looking at

I'll hook it up to one of those nice 3 cup maxi-jet brackets so It can get low enough into the sump

      • That'll work! the 5g jugs work pretty good for gravity fed ATO reservoirs with their threaded caps.

        • Nice, I'll look into those! Going to see if I can find something more aesthetically pleasing first, but will probably end up using one

          • And it's the return section of the sump that is first to be affected by evaporation right?

            • You could use those clear fridge shelf water/tea containers and just remove the flip nozzle and install a bulkhead/fitting

              • I got my RO/DI from Miggy, he mentioned that this unit wasn't set up for Chloramines and needed a specific filter for it. Is this what I need? http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...ent-kit-1.html Which of the canisters do I replace or do I need to add a 5th canister and toss it between the main 3 and the DI? Also, where can I get this nice tubing that is used? I tried using regular airline tubing for one of the connections and doesn't sit as nice in the connectors.

2nd stage catalytic carbon and 3rd stage chlorplus 10 carbon block

                  • Do you remember what's currently in the 2nd and 3rd stage in this unit? I open them up and just see the cartridges. It looks like the second already has some kind of carbon in it, and third cartridge seems empty. So I would just toss in the chloramine kit into this 3rd canister?

                    • Ending up creating an order from buckeyefield supply since they sell the nice ro/di tubing as well: These look like the same as the BRS versions

                      BFS-182 Catalytic GAC cartridge - $15.50
This Catalytic GAC cartridge measures 10 inch x 2.5 inch, nominal and fits standard-sized residential housings. This cartridge is recommended for use in-line before a carbon block for treatment of tap water containing chloramines.

                      BFS-379 Filter Kit - Chloramine Special RODI - $36.98
This kit includes the same filters which are supplied with new Chloramine Special RODI systems. Includes one 1 micron sediment filter, one catalytic GAC refill, one 0.5 micron carbon block, and one color-changing DI resin refill. All cartridges measure 10" x 2.5" (nominal).

                      • New Skimmer. Aqua C EV-120 It's just slightly too large for my sump because of the return gate valve location. It looks like I can take off the gate valve, put in an elbow, and put valve back on for it to fit. Or I can leave it outside of the sump as well and just pump water in and out. I'll probably go the in-sump route and re-work the gate valve.

                        • Now that I think about it... that's a very nice pvc gate valve. I'm going to take it off the skimmer and use that for my main drain. I don't really see much of a need to tone down skimmer return.

                          • The gate valve let's you fine tune the skimmer without it its not gonna skim properly

                            • The gate valve controls the water level inside the skimmer chamber
