  • Sweet set up dude!

I'm still skimmerless at the moment. I'm only doing 15% weekly water changes. It seems to be keeping the algae at bay. But I did recently stock up some a bunch of fishes so I'll see how it goes. How do you like your skimmer? Is it pulling a lot out of the water?

Can you post a full tank shot?

    • I just put the skimmer on like 5minutes before that last post - still getting it dialed in! It didn't come with a collection cup plug, so I'm using a makeshift one for now out of an extra phosban reactor valve. It seems quiet, I'm just playing with eggcrate to get a height that I like. I'm going to leave it mostly open while I'm at work tonight and really pay attention to the skim on my next day off. FTS coming in a few mins

      • Oh, I thought you may have had it for a while.

It's going to take a few days to really get going.

lol, I don't think you will be missing up. It's akin to watching grass grow.

              • Yeah yeah I know. I have lots of corals, they're just well... small. When I go places, I need to start buying a single 40-50 buck coral instead of like 5-6 frags. Now that the skimmer is going, I'm going to lean more toward SPS as well. I have a handful of them in the tank now and are looking good (yet still small).

                • You should work with LPS first.

With a lot of SPS, your are going to have to dose. Which can jack your water up if not done right.

I hate testing and dosing my water. This is why I went with a minimalist scape and a few mother colonies.

                  • Doh, that sucks. SPS tanks are awesome. Omar and Miguel have very nice SPS tanks

                    • On another note, of good news as well... The tiny little frag Miguel gave me of "green bay packer zoas" seems to have melted. I'm a Lions fan. He tried converting me and failed

                      • Lol, why did it melt on you?

You should look into clams. They are badarse too.

                        • Yeah clams are badass - I think Omar had one. Heading over to his place again monday. And the zoas were a false alarm, apparently the little rock they were on just rolled over. I was hoping they disappeared.
