It has two bio wheels in the sump with a 1000 watt heater, uv light built in and a iwaki md70rlt for return pump. I think this is an old fish tank for a store. So my question is can I make this a reef tank since its a long and low tank or am I better off using this as a freshwater tank? I still have a few things I want to do before setting this aquarium up, like switching the return pump to a md55rlt, or trying to find a posidon pump that makes no noise since this will be in my living room. Looking forward to all comments thanks.

You can make virtually any tank a SW tank with a little cash to convert it. I would ditch those overflow and if possible I would install a overflow box around it. 72" light will work it will just be darker on the sides or you can go with two 36" and spread them apart or a 48" + 36".
