    From my limited experience there is no specific sweet spot... all depends on the nutrient levels of the tank

        im planning a DIY sump... i was thinking about using a 10 gallon and put baffles in it but i want to get a general idea of the skimming height so i can make the baffle that high... but if the 10gal is not high enough... then ima make a acrylic sump (trying not to make one)...
        20L nano saltwater tank- (In Progress)

        55G tropheus tank- 22 T. ikola,23 T. red chimba, 4 brevis, 3 b.pleco, 1 dwarf giraffe cat
        NO SUCH THING AS OVER FILTRATION... =DD

          Just use the 10g. It's going to be hella cheaper. I ran the eshopp sump on my last set up.

          Its ok for the water level to be too high. Just raise the skimmer using egg crate.

            thats what im trying to avoid... i will put baffles in the 10g sump but if there was a close to perfect height i will make the baffles to where it runs at that exact height...
