I found this fixture and it is diy and contains a 2:1 blue:white ratio and is 36"x10" They are also dimmable the seller was asking for $300 and has 2 of these fixtures I was wondering if this is a good price as I'm new to leds and don't know much about the. Also I was wondering if this would be enough light from a single fixture for a 72" long 18" wider and 24" tall tank? It's for tropheus and I figured that the saltwater people would know more about leds. Also since I was going to use it for tropheus should I dim the blues and make the white brighter? Also can you replace the blue for whites?

This should probably go in the aquarium equipment forum . . . but either end of your 72" tank will be dark with this fixtrue.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

If its for a fresh tank you really don't need blue in it maybe a few for night lighting, and 1 fixture won't be enough for the whole tank like said already it will be dim/dark on the ends look into the DIY led kits I believe rapidled.com is a site that sells them and have instructions on how to put it together you may come out cheaper that way as well

54 x 3W LED is quite a few of them for a 36" fixture expecially considering you arent growing plants/corals. You could probably invest that much in a more suitable fixture. depending on how they were installed, changing out emitters may not be easy and i they may not be wired so that you can dim the different colors independantly of one another.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

find a place with a leanient return policy, i havent heard many good things about this fixtures but that has been mostly by reef and planted tank guys...they may be fine for what you are doing. they make a reef version too that uses 3W but then again there are blues present.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
