  • Filtration Help!!!!!!!!

I am taking care of my Bro in law's salt water tank and today I came home and the return water on the filter is shooting this white stuff out. It almost looks like sand, its really thick. I have never seen this before. What is it and how can I fix it.

It is air the sump is running low on water, It needs to have Ro water added to it, I assume he has Ro water to add to the sump. If you are not sure call him. Water evaporates in a sump type system and needs to have water added every 3 days or so. Just to be sure check with him. I am sure that is the problem. Take care of it as soon as possible, if the sump runs dry the pump will burn up, the filter will not work and the fish will most likely die.

    Good Luck!

If you added tap water and the City Puts chemicals into the water you need to add a water conditioner to remove the chemicals, Unless he has special pre conditioned water to add to the sump.
