  • Wanted: Pink Foamboard for DIY Terrarium Backgrounds

I used to get all I wanted of this stuff for free from work but that was a different company than where I am now...so I have never known where you can buy it? Anyone have an idea? This is the fine grained styrofoam sheet that are at least 2" in thickness although i guess that i could stack 1" slabs. I didnt see any at my local hardware stores.

so you have seen it in the big hardware stores? i went back and looked at the website again today and now the 1/2" and 3/4" thick sheets are showing up at HD, they werent yesterday for some reason. Lowes only seems to carry the blue kind made by Dow. I guess I could try that if I cant find the pink in 1-2" thicknesses.

              +1

I have bought both...the pink and the blue . They are both the same and they cost $10 for a 4'x8' sheet . Like stated above....I think Home Depot has the pink.... Lowes has the blue.

hmmm i was hoping to get the 2" thick stuff, but it looks like i would have to special order that. i may just try to stack layers and hope the seams hide well.

Stack them pretty sure you won't see the seams if you're doing a DIY 3d background. That's how people get it to pop out is to stack it. But to me I say save your time and money and get the real thing since concrete tends to crumble after placed in water Sooo long

its for a vivarium/terrarium so water immersion wont be a problem, although it will be very humid. I typically use sanded floor grout and then a masonary sealant so it stays pretty moisture tolerant. i may use the silicon sealant and coco fiber mix in areas too just to see how they compare. Im sure the later will last forever.
