+1 if the fish are getting in the box from the notches then I wouldn't try to cover that up

I honestly can't say I've ever had that much fluctuations in temp with my tops. Granted not saying it doesn't happen but I also use a heater that 2-3 times more than my tank size as well. To each there own. I don't water change as heavily as others. Speaking of which my 55 is due for one today.

I meant fluctuate as in temp increase. Glass tops will make your tank act like a car. Heat gets trapped in and can't get out. I have a 300w on a 100g so it's about the right heater and I get temperature fluctuations but it's only like 1-2 degrees up from the 76F I have it at which is fine. Oh and I have glass tops right now. Not saying it's bad, both are good but I like eggcrate better.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm just worried that most of my open water and some loaches will decide to fly into the over flow and get stuck in the wetdrys first tray then just die.

It can and will happen. Fish are smart though and learn from others mistakes. Joseph what did you find to go with?

Alright I guess I'll probably stick a prefilter sponge in the intake pipe to the wetdry then.
