  • For Sale: Seahorse/SPS Garden

    Hi all,

I have a rather complicated setup for sale here. It originally started as a stock biocube, but evolved into a system designed for a pair of Barbour's seahorses with an accompanying SPS garden, Xenia, a clam, some different-colored macros, etc. The system consists of the following components:
    1) Biocube, 29g - drilled in the return pump section with a 1" bulkhead. Stand included.
    2) Kessil 150a 10k/Sky Blue LED light - This light has been great. Never any problems and has a nice crisp white look
    3) My homemade "Seahorse Sump" - I designed a sump to meet the needs of a seahorse system. It used to be a 30g tall I believe. It has a bioball/wet/dry trickle filter section, a sock filter, a 20g refugium section with a lot of thought put into it. It is ugly but has kept the system ammonia and nitrate-free for a year now. (And this is saying something for a seahorse tank!)
    4) Return pump (I believe rated at 600 GPH), has two speeds (whether purposefully or accidentally, it's helped during water changes)
    5) Bubble Magus Protein Skimmer - It sits in the space of the Biocube normally reserved for bioballs. Pulls out the gunk.
    5) All livestock is negotiable, but is not necessarily part of the price. I like to give people a good feeling when they buy, so I can throw in plenty of livestock for beans. No seahorses are included but I can tell you how to get them.
    6) Live rock and live sand IS included if you want it. If not, then I'll put it into my main display tank.

All for the price of $500. The system has gobs of money put into it. A couple of notes about parting out:
-I'm willing to sell the Biocube + stand by itself for $250.
-Other than that, I'm going to wait on parting out the other pieces. I replaced the stock lighting with the Kessil, so I don't want to sell the Kessil until I sell the Biocube itself.
-Also, no livestock is necessarily included in the sale. The sale is intended to be equipment only. I will thoroughly clean it to your satisfaction (cleaning fish stuff feels so zen )1.jpg

-IF YOU WANT, we can discuss the sale of any livestock, and I'll throw in some freebies if you buy the system. I'll throw in live rock/sand if you want it for free.

I think this tank setup would be a good one for somebody interested in having a nice stable seahorse tank, or a nice LED-lit shimmery nano-cube with the extra stability provided by the sump.

BUMP! Also, just a note - this would be the ultimate first-reef-tank package. It would be like buying a BioCube at a discount AND also getting upgraded filtration and lighting. :)
