Heres my 25 watt i hooked up its pretty bug thats why i was asking. Just make sure u get a new bulb each year for it .

Yes most definitely. Your tank wont grow algae NEAR as fast. The water will be more crisp and clear. And it kills bad parasites in the water. So in all its a total WIN/WIN.
