Anyone know where I can get a Carbon Filter? I think I remember seeing one at ADG that they use on their tanks. I want one in order to filter the new water coming in to my tank.

Yo can go onlite to www.BuckeyeFieldSupply.com. It's cheaper if you built your own one.
List of parts:
3 BFS-339 Clear 10-inch housing, 1/2 inch.
BFS-240 2-pack, Specialty Sediment Cartridge, 1 Micron Depth Filter - $7.99
BFS-275 2-pack, Specialty Sediment Cartridge, 5 Micron Depth Filter - $5.99
BFS-219 Carbon block cartridge - The Sweetener, 10 inch - $9.50
BFS-295 Mounting bracket, triple - $14.99
Valves and connector are availabe in that website but depends of the setting that you want.

Fill the filter with GAC (granulated activated carbon) and sell the pump.

This might work even better with the smaller diameter, but taller canister... again, just sell the pump or give it to a pond guru as a spare.

So is there something significantly different between making the one mentioned above and buying one? I mean there seems to be a significant difference in price. And it doesnt look all that difficult to build your own.

I bought one of these a long time ago for a friend and it still works! use to be a lot cheaper too. Wish I bought a couple back then. Small and easy to put away vs the big carbon bottle I have currently.
edit: I didn't bought it at this place. just google for better price out there.Last edited by tnguyen; 03-06-2009, 07:29 PM.

Darbex, along with the pressure issue the carbon bottles work off a reactor method which the water is forced to the bottom and then back up through every bit of carbon unlike a "flow through" design of an inline filter like what tnguyen posted or like the water filters for fridges.700g Mini-Monster tank

So how do you know if the above items or anything else like them is capable of withstanding the pressure of the 2262? Ek you mention the reactor method but what is the significant problem with that as opposed to the one ADG or tnguyen has?

Hold on....
2262?
You trying to add a media filter onto your tank or filter fresh water for water changes?700g Mini-Monster tank

I havent decided which one now

Welll I will say that having it circulate tank water will exhaust the carbon really fast and having to replace it that often is probably gonna be costly.
If you are gonna run it through the tank might as well save the money and just get a media bag and throw it into the 2262.
The carbon bottle is to remove chlorine before it hits the tank.700g Mini-Monster tank

True ok so I am convinced that using it for new water is better. So it should be able to hold the pressure from the tap.
