i have seen them recently like within the last week or so, at

    extreme fish & pets
i think, i saw a few at fish ranch II
and i know that tropical fish & pets has them, but i wouldnt buy ANY fish from that nasty arse place!

oh, and i think i saw them at city pets, call around, i no people get them in.
i have seen some temensis for a ridiculous price for their size at pet city.

well, then that just leaves tropical fish & pets.
if you buy some from them, i would qt them for atleast 2 weeks, and blast the tank with malacite blue, and general cure,

i think it will probably be ok, i went by there today, and the P-Bass looked pretty good, they are eating well, 'i watched them eat'
and i think they will be fine, i purchased my old silver arowana from them, and my old P-Bass, this was over a year ago, but i think fish such as these will be fine.
plus, they are only like $20 a piece at 6+"tl!!!

they are Cichla Monoculus, and they are actually really nice.
the thing about tropical fish and pets is, if you are going to buy fish from them, dont listen to what the owner says, use your own experience and judgement to determine what fish you hink are healthy or not, if you think in the slightest that the fish you are looking at purchasing arein anyway unhealthy, dont buy them.
              this goes for any lfs.
btu this place aswell as inwood, cherry pic what you want to buy.
also, if some fish in a tank are not what your looking for, but are the same sp as what you are looking, ie; they are male or female, smaller than what you need, or deformed, make sure you point out and watch what he catches!
because i have seen him and he has done it to me before, you tell him you want this one fish out of the group, and when you turn your back, he gives you the ugly fish you are trying to avoid geting, just a heads up.
but yeah, the bass from him i trus.
i have bought them before, and they are very healthy.
these guys are eating live rosies, and you will want to gradually wene them off of those and on to healthier prepared foods and pellets.

i would say for a group of 4 or more, no less than 8x2x2ft tank when mature, as they reach 28-30"tl.
they are the largest growing sp of New World Cichlids.

ideally a 8'x3'x2.5' 450g would be ideal do to the length of the fish as to allow room to turn around.

No offense to anyone's post on here, but I will NEVER buy anything from tropical fish and pets. This store should not even be in the conversation when talking about a LFS. The owner has NO clue as to what he is talking about. I truly believe he is in the hobby for the money, not for the love of fish. Again, I would NOT buy anything from there, just my opinion.
