Tell me if I am wrong, but my understanding was they are only that color when young and turn into regular silver arrows when grown.

youre pretty much correct, they dont look exactly like silver arowanas but the lose alot of pigment, most of it actually

From what I understand, they shaped like silver arowana, but has black fin color when young. As they grow older, fin turns into blue/dark gray. They also came from South America, but imo, much nicer and highly rare than silver arowana. You don't see them very often. Their price could be higher than silver b/c silver arowana is farm bred.

are you talking about a blue or black? the blues are actually blue when younger and the blacks are pitch black....they both lose pigment when bigger and do have slightly different body shape and fin texture

the blue arowana is an Osteoglossum Ferrerai or Black Arowana. They are one, just two different names regard to their slight color change from black to blue as fish grows.
