  • WTB - glass canopy (cover for 55g tank)

I need 2 covers for my Oceanic 68
    they are the same size as a 55 -   23.62" x 12" (2 reqd)
other brands seem to all be 23.75" and will not fit.

Has anyone seen "Oceanic" brand covers at a LFS or on line ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Go to Home Depot or Lowes.  They sell glass and acrylic there and will cut it to any size onsite.  It's not overly expensive.  If you need to buy the plastic/rubber hinge and back pieces they are relatively inexpensive.  I think Village Tropical Fish has them for $1/ft or something like that.  I want to replace my glass tops as well so I priced all this stuff a month or two ago but I don't remember the exact prices.

The Home Depot by my house doesn't cut glass anymore  :( .  I didn't check Lowes and they may still provide that service.  If there's a glass company like Binswanger close to you they have the thicker glass that is more aquarium grade and they are also very inexpensive and they'll round the edges.  If I remember correctly the piece for my hex, the smaller piece in the front, cost me about $6 with rounded edges.  I just cut out a pattern in cardboard and took it them, has the glass back the next day.  I'm sure just measurements for a square cut would be more than adequate.

I just had glass cut for my 55.
          I used a 24" x 20" piece of glass at lowes for $8.
Homedepot stopped cutting glass a while back, Lowes still does.

I cut the glass down to 23 1/4"
          Then made a 11 1/4 piece, a 6" piece, and a 3" piece.
The 11 1/4 piece fits all the way across half the tank, the other two pieces allow me to open the top to feed the fish, but it im going to try catching them i have to take the whole top off.
          I bought a Red shop light from Homedepot for$23. +T8 bulbs $6,
So ive got a new lid and light for around $40. And it actually looks good, it doesnt look thrown together.
