  • Two Tanks 500 and 700 Gallons Both Salt Water

I have two beautiful mahogony  cabinets surrounding 3/4 inch glass with a curved front to the glass - dual filtration systems and live coral, and rock that we have maintained for about five years. I am selling them because I am moving into a smaller place and there is just no room for them there. I live in Austin, Texas - thus - it would be best if whoever wished to purchase them was in Houston, Austin San Antonio or Dallas because of the weight of the tanks - I believe there are over 300 pounds of just live rock alone in the tanks.  Of course there are also fish - but when you have coral - who needs to look at the fish. I paid $25k apiece for them - not including the livestock - and not including the extra chillers and other add ons.  I am not in a mad rush to sell them - because i want to get a fair price - and am posting on craigs list and in the newspapers and various fish forums so that we can determine what the fair market value is and get these tanks into a good home, restaurant, law firm, or high end office. The mahogony is double inlaid wood. I have attached a photo - send me an email at doug_at_daybreakdirect.com and I will send you additional photos - or if you arein austin, come see them around 360 and the bridge.

This post is over 1/2 year old! I've seen it on other sites as well...probably long gone.
I can be found at www.southaustinchiro.com.

If he paid 25K per tank he didn't wait for his change.

I do not understand why people put adds on this site and not include the asking prices.  Im M/O the market for systems like this is very, very small.  I don't know what he thinks a fair price is going to be, but I am sure of one thing,  he is going to be disapointed.

I don't think cold per say......just realistic.  He has more tied up in tanks than most people have tied up in their vehicles....me included..LOL.

agreed. the more expensive the custom tank the more quickly it depriciates. a car this price would drop 2-5k as you drive it off the lot. i expect this one lost 50% as it left the store. and at least 25% more sence.

But gt3guru...you are right. Just like the tank you getting from that guy. Someone might have paid close to $3000.00 just for the tank

Re: Two Tanks 500 and 700 Gallons Both Salt Water

If the stands and canopy are custom built and finished on the inside also, those two stands with canopies could be $10K for both.

Then an all glass 700 gallon tank alone would cost $3,500 and a 500 gallon would cost $2,500

So, in all honesty I think he could spend $25 on both tanks with all the fixtures, filtration, pumps, chillers, UV, then possibly another 10 grand if he paid someone to install them for him.

                    SO who knows...

If I had a empty wall...lol...and could sell my truck, my .... and some ocean front property... 8)
