  • WTT Red cherry shrimp

ok i have been neglecting my little colony of RCS but they are still going, most of the parents have passed on and i think there might be one or two holding(not promising.

there is at least 10shrimplets in my 2.5g but im sure there is more(again not making any promises other than the ten.)

i am wanting to trade them for lots and lots of little ramshorn snail for my pea puffers that i just got    or will trade for the small bottle of new life spectrum thera+a 1mm pellets new.

I have a plague of little mostly NOT ramshorn snails that might take over your whole world when they get started. You might be mad at me forever for letting you have some!? I could trade for the shrimp and give you some more snails later if you will still talk to me later lol.

what kind of snails are they? do they eat plants?

i read that MTS isnt good for them and these guys are the size of a pea literally!!

i have no problems with infestation of snails since my zebra tank just went through one but in the planted tank i dont mind much.

I see them on the plants so I assume they eat them. They eat any food on the bottom and clean on the glass some. Of coarse you can't see through the snails while they are cleaning on the glass lol. They don't really keep the glass clean either. What is MTS? I don't know if they are that? Maybe? They are smaller than ramshorn snails brown or green with conch shells? They put rafts of clear eggs on the glass and multiply like crazy. I don't know their name. I think they come to the totes with the bull frogs in the spring when the frogs come to lay eggs in my totes outside. Then they ride my plants around and come inside.

They are not Malaysian Trumpet Snails.

They look like common pond snails but darker in color.

              MTS is malaysian trumpet snails.

do the sails you have crush easily? i think ramshorns is probably what i am going cause this is going into my plant tank and i dont want a infestations of snails that eat plants.

                Re: WTT Red cherry shrimp

Well, I have both pond snails, like max, and ramshorn. If you like, I could bring you a whole bunch. I don't have any room for shrimp right now, but I definitely have enough of these guys to go around.  :)

you can go to any petsmart and they will pull some out of the tanks for you. At least I would at mine. We have been pulling the common pond "Nuisance" snails out of other tanks to put in with the puffers and all our little puffers were fat and happy.. So funny to watch them hover over a snail then dive in and attack it.

the common pond snails reproduce fast too. easy to keep.

yup! they love em. I've got 2 dwarf puffers and i bring pond snails home for them. i've never had an outbreak of pond snails but my MTS manage to survive.

well they are in the 2.5g temporarly with the RCS but dont seem to bother them and more intrested in the few ramshorn i have in there, really cool to watch.

my planted tank had an overdose of co2 since i didnt have any fish in there i didnt care much to test it. but once it settles the puffers are going in there.

The pond snails? crush more easily than the ramshorn snails and they are smaller so from the food point of view I think they would be better. More better LOL.
