i believe the airstones would have killed them especially if thats all the filtration

i remember when i worked at ultimate fish, we had that 125g in the top left corner of the store. it housed alexs large colony of brundi and kigoma frontosas.

he had like 20 fronts in there.
filtration was 1x 2217, and 1x whisper 100.
the main o2 exchange was caused by the 5 large air discs.

one night after someone did a wc on the tank and forgot to plug the stones back in, dont ask me why they were unplugged to start with, but anywho, we came in the next morning and the fromts were strangling for air.

we plugged the stones back in and in less than 30 minutes they were back to normal.
