The common type can get upto 18". Â Thats the ones you normally see in Petsmart/Petco/Walmart for $3.
None of the plecos i have now will get above 6", most will stay around 4".
Your best bet is either a Bristlenose or Rubberlipped pleco that wont get more than 6", and theyre inexpensive.
i'm interested in some of the sag... what would you like to trade for? another type of plant?
Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
Okay, okay, I hate to say it, but why don't we get back on the subject of the free fish and plants? Â  Â
PhilipC - Welcome!! And please feel free to start a post about your tank and ideas for it. I'd LOVE to know more about which natives you've kept!! Â
I will write up some of my history with native fish and post in the future.
Far as the Sag goes, I will trade for any plant, I would really like some HC for a nano tank I would like to do, but I'm not picky. Do yall  have any Sunset?
has anyone ever kept a gator gar?, I wonder how agressive they would be, wonder how big the tank would need to be for that matter, I've seen them hit 6+ feet 8O
I once had a gar, keept it for about 2 months, then put it in with my bass hoping they would not fight. The next morning my bass had killed it. From that point on I knew the bass would not accept room mates. By the way the gar was larger than the bass too.

Do you want the bass to stay in a tank or be released in a pound? Â Our neighbor has a pound with bass in it and he only allows catch and release fishing. Â We could let it go there. Â
Mark and I would be interested in some of your plants and have hornwort and anacharis to trade.  We could also give you some of our glass shrimp that are in a community tank and 3rd generation breeding in captivity.  They are with angles, plecos, guppies, swords and platties now and would love your tank!  Let us know if interested.  kensteblein@aol.com  or 409-771-3305.
I orginally caught him out of a stocked pond, I really wanted to let it warm up a bit before releasing him back into a outdoor pond. I figured this would increase his chances of survival.
I would love to trade some goodies with you, do you ever attend the NASH meetings in Houston? I plan to attend my first meeting this month.
Are glass shrimp the same as ghost shrimp?
As of right now I don't have a heater on it. How important is a heater for tetra? Because I've mostly been involved with native texas fish, I have never bothered buying a heater.
I think a few days without a cold front will be fine for the survival of my bass, maybe I can even introduce water from the pond slowly before I release him.
