I saw some interest in websites that ship fish in the PETA thread and thought I would start a new thread for it.

I saw this site when looking for discus.

They have alot of fish though. 7.95 for their small "assorted" discus.

    Express shipping starts at $56

Dang, I was hoping they'd have some panda moors. Can't seem to find them anywhere. And why does it look like they're smushing the plecos?!

          Re: retail fish websites

I have haven't had a really good experience w/ somethingphisy, guys; so please be careful. My girlfriend ordered what was supposed to be 3 Red Texas for me last month as a surprise b-day gift. The total came to about $140. But the killer part about the whole thing was:

          1) The price for each fish was advertised as $10 just 2 wks. b4 she placed her order. By that time, they had jacked the price up to $25 per fish. ***So make sure you get them to give you a definite price. Maybe even have them fax you a price.

          2) 1 of the 3 fish I was sent was well under the size advertised on the website (it was supposed to be a 2-2.5" fish; but when I got it, it was more like 1" at best. On top of that, I don't think it was the right fish. It looked more like a Salvini than a Red Texas.). Another 1 of the 3 fish I was sent had damaged fins (looked like its fins was being nipped at and its stomach was sunken. It since has recovered nicely and has killed the smaller Salvini looking one). And the final fish in the trio I was sent, well it's the wrong damn fish!!! Now this is a Flowerhorn...I don't give a damn what the guy at somethingphisy says!!! It has the markings of a F-horn, body morph, temperment, everything. It almost looks like my Trimac (minus the red coloration).

Now, when I received my shipment I noticed all of this things. But I (along w/ my nephew and girlfriend) observed the fish for a couple of hrs. just to make sure I was trippin' So I emailed them and left a msg. on their answering machine. I finally get an email reply after about a week, maybe week and a half...saying they are 99.9% sure that the wrong fish nor any sickly fish was sent. I disagreed adamently. So after going back and forth w/ a few diff. emails, I decided to take him up on his suggestion of "letting the fish grow out some". I don't have the "runt" anymore b/c the only true Red Texas I received killed it. But the flowerhorn I was sent, I will be taking pictures of that to send to him (along w/ his email in which he almost swears that I wasn't sent the wrong fish).

So the moral of the story is: BE ON TOP OF YOUR GAME WHEN YOU DEAL W/ SOMETHINGPHISY...b/c something really is phisy about how they do business!!!!

Over at cichlid-forum there is a pretty decent review section with lots of different online dealers and how they rate with real feedback from the members.

Fish2U sells dyed fish - those where "some or all of the color has been artificially enhanced."  This is reason enough for me to look elsewhere.

I didn't explore the website enough to find these guys.  I agree with you about that.

I can list a lot of African importers, but for Central/South Americans I am not sure who are the best importers for those fish.
