  • Looking for 300-400 gallon aquarium, any suggestions?

The heavens have parted and God has looked down upon me to offer a blessing!!!! The Goddess herself (my wife) has given me the green light to buy a large tank....ohhh yeeeeaaahhhh!!!!! I am looking for something in the 300-400 gal range (the bigger the better), the dimensions I would prefer would be 130x24x30, this would make for a very nice long wall show tank.

    1. I have been looking my preferred tank dimensions at Tencor aquariums at around $3000 Acrylic, and glass aquariums at glasscages.com for around $1500, any other companies any of you might recommend? These prices do not include stands.

    2. I know glass is heavier and acrylic is supposed to be clearer, lighter, and better...but is acrylic really $1500 better? I know this will be a once in a lifetime tank for me so I would really appreciate some input from people who have owned large acrylic and glass tanks.

    3. The fun stuff!!! I am going to put Ikola's in this show tank, they should become big and beautiful in a 300-400 gal tank, and I would like to mix them with something else to offset the color. I saw a youtube video of Ikola's mixed with cherry spots...BADASS!!! Anyone have any other suggestions on what I could mix with the Ikola's?

    4. Im in San Antonio, any good Texas aquarium manufacturers/stores?

    Thanks in advance for replies!

Good luck. I'm getting a 6'x4' tank myself this week & can share your enthusiasm. Not sure if you're looking for a used tank, but here are a few links I found:

Glass is just too heavy in these sizes. Tenecor acrylic is the way we went. We upgraded to get their "premium" series on a 300

            good luck

Found it on monsterfishkeepers.com. It's a SeaLife Systems setup where the tank, sump & stand are all acrylic. Been in use for less than 6 months. Perfect dimensions for what I need.

Good luck with finding a tank.

                        Try craiglist.

I would go acrylic for anything larger than 7'x24''x24''.
I ate my fish that died.

Thanks! That's probably my last tank (of course, don't we all say that)? Can't wait to get it in my house. Apologies to the OP for derailing the thread. GL on your search. That monster tank in SA has your name written all over it.
