  • FS: Silver Dollars and a Large Colony of Shell dwellers

I am revamping several of my tanks and I need to move out 7 Silver Dollars, all between 3 1/2 and 4 inches - $40 for all.

I also want to sell a colony of about 20 multis - 3 breeding pair, about 8-9 young adults and the balance in young about 1/2 inch.  $60 for the entire colony.

I have a store will buy them all, but I would rather they go directly to good homes.

I need a 20 gal long tank - not a leaker, and will take it as a trade in, if you like.

If interested try sending a pm (I've been having problems sending and getting pms) or email me at:                                thetradesman@earthlink.net

Re: FS: Silver Dollars and a Large Colony of Shell dwellers

            Hello Trademan,

I just wanted to let you know that after about 48 hours, all the mulit's are doing fine. Fishlady has them in a 29 gallon tank that we where originally going to use as a holding pin/tank, but it appears they have set up shop already and seem to be very happy. Seems to me there are quite a few more than you thought in that bunch. I would guess the entire bunch is somewhere around 45 or more, not including all the tiny little snails that have come out of the woodwork....

We're feeding them flake and NLS cichlid formula in the tiny pellet variety.

I plan on taking some and putting them in my 125 over the weekend, and Fishlady is going to put a few upstairs in her 100 after it cycles a few more days. I was going to put some in my 75 with the brichardi's but after what I have read about them little booger's, I think I'll pass on that idea.

Fishlady has nicknamed the lot of them "the bradfords".....don't ask me where that came from. She tells me she enjoyed meeting you and the mrs. and that I must stop by some time and pick your brains.... I look forward to that.....Thanks again.

            CF

Okay.....let me jog your memory.....there was a television show in the mid 70's called "Eight is enough".....the family on that show's name was "The Bradford's".....that's why i call them this....hehehehehe....too many to name individually.....and by the way.....i am attached to the lot of them....cichlidfan will have some tall convincing me to let any go to another tank... :(

Re: FS: Silver Dollars and a Large Colony of Shell dwellers

I'm really glad that they are all doing well.  I'm sure they have gone to a great home(s)! You are both welcome to visit anytime. I guessed when I said 20+, I would much rather have you get more than come up short.

Hope I find as good a home for the silver dollars as their time is running out - I really don't want them to go to a store, but I may not have a choice.

Re: FS: Silver Dollars and a Large Colony of Shell dwellers

How big are the silver dollars?  Are they top-swimmers?  I have 2 40 breeder tanks and one 55 standard.  The 55 houses 4 full-grown Golden Wonder Killie's, a couple of 3-spot gourami and a couple of blue dwarf gourami's.  I'd planned on moving the gourami's to one of the 40's, so I might have room for 2-3 dollars if they're not huge.  How agressive are they and what temp range do they like??

Who says you can`t have it all??!!

Re: FS: Silver Dollars and a Large Colony of Shell dwellers

Silver dollars are mid tank swimmers primarily, these are all 3 1/2 to 4" in length now, under the right conditions they eventually could double in size - these are about a 15 months old. They are a peacefull fish, but I wouldn't trust them with neons or fry! They need to be in a shoal, prefferablely a group of 6 or more. They WILL eat most live plants, have never touched my Java fern or Amazon swords though. Water temp should be in the 74-80F range, my ph is 7.8.

Sorry, but I will only sell them as a group.
                    Hope this helps.
