Because acrylic scratches so easily, I've always thought that glass is better.    Why acrylic tank? price ? weight ?

I am still doing a lot of research, but from what I can find when you get over about 210 gals. there dosn"t seem to be a lot of glass mfg. out there.  And yes it does scratch easier than glass, but can be polished out. As far as weight it is about 30% lighter than glass.  As far as pricing I don't have any info about glass tanks in the 300+ range.  It seems that the going rate to have a 300 built is about $1600-$1900.00, depending on what extras you want.  Any info ya'll can share with me will be greatly appreciated. Good luck on your hunt, Mike.  I have always wanted a 300 or larger tank myself.  Are you looking for a larger tank for your zaires or burundi?

Try glasscages.com for big glass tanks. They also make acrylic versions.

Hey Jeff,  Yes I am wanting to move my Burundi from the 200 to something larger, and that would allow me to move the Zaires from a 125 to the 200.  I am running into some problems.  It seems that all of the better acrylic tank builders are in the north, which means shipping cost-crate charges, and it go on and on.  I was hoping that someone in our area might have or know where one might be bought.  My goal is to get a 96x30x24. 300 Gal . wide 96 x 30 x 25 tall $900

I show they are delivering on 6/30/07 in Houston.  Check and see if you can get a tank in that delivery.
The problem I would have with Acrylic in any but specially that size is that you have to have a stand that has a solid surface below because you CANNOT just hold an Acrylic tank on the edges like glass (remember Acrylic bows under the weight )..  Now with this in mind you will have to get a pretty beefy stand for it to sit on.  I would at least email them and see what they can do for you in regards to shipping.  Since you are in Beaumont and they show their delivery route is from Nashville to Little Rock, to Oklahoma City, to Dallas, to Houston and then on to New Orleans.  See what it would be to stop in Beaumont and drop yours off.  It should not be much more I can imagine.  At least check with them and find out.  A call/email to them is better than nothing.

I bought that tank (300 gal tall) for Mother's day here in Dallas and It is beautiful! It is a great tank! They charged me 80 buck for delivery...but I couldn't touch their price anywhere!!
