My 100 gallon (ok 97+ gallon) reef tank started splitting down the bottom front right corner seam a few weeks ago. After a mad trip to Houston and back, I'm back up and running. HOWEVER, I still have this tank that's sitting around taking up space and taunting me to try and fix it.
Bottom line:
PIC ONE (Cracked Brace View)
PIC TWO (Overall View)
FYI "Simplicity Plus" is something Tenecor does that means that the filtration is built into the back of the tank. Honestly, the blue background is really thin (1/4") and could be removed and then the dividers yanked out. The tank's main acrylic is heavier (3/8?") and goes around the back and the braces attach there, NOT on the blue background/overflow piece... see pics and ask me if you have ?s
Bottom line:
- Tenecor 100 Gallon Simplicity Plus Acrylic Tank (Does NOT hold water currently) $50 60"L x 17"H x 22"D
- I also have the HEAVY DUTY VERY NICE Black Acrylic Stand if someone wants it (otherwise I'll hold onto it for a future project) $150
- This would be a nice reptile tank for someone that was a little resourceful (or for something easily contained like Beardies/Tortoises.
- With some small mods, you could build a really neat terrarium or pull out the back filtration and go wild.
- With some knowledge and time, you could reseal this leak and possibly use it for an aquarium again. I wouldn't bet on this though :)
