              No it's not a F-Horn. It's a hybrid....Texas (Carpintas) X Red Devil.

Clearly 1 of my dream fish....WITHOUT A DOUBT  :emtthumbs:

Well are they that hard to get to breed???  Both fish are readily available in most LFS's.

                  Re: Super Red Texas

Yes and no. I actually have both...matter of fact, I have a Red Texas female, but she doesn't have the coloration and the really intense markings (pearls) like Michael's has. And that's the thing w/ that fish...you have a 1 in 10 maybe 20 chance that yours will come out lookin' like his. Yours chances are really closer to seldom than occassionally.

                    Re: Super Red Texas

They are grouped somewhat in the same "class" as F-Horns b/c they are bred for the intense color/pearls. But we can only manipulate genetics so far ya know....

With F-Horns, you have so much more lead way b/c several diff. fish are used to create F-Horns. But w/ Red Texas, it's only a Green Texas (Carpintas) and a Red Devil....and I think the male has to be a Texas and the female a RD b/c it increases the chances of it coming out like Mike's.

What do the F-Horns come from?  I knew they were hybrids but between what two fish?

Okay, wait. I'm not saying I'm not interested in this discussion - I am, actually. But could someone maybe start another thread, just so we can keep this one about Michael's sale? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for comments on my fish.  My job is field service engineer and I travel a few time in a month.  I do not have much time to take care all my fish so I have to sale a few.  So far, he is the last one that I have to sale.  By the way, there are many Red texas, but not this deep red and full pearl like this.  Who care whether it is a flowerhorn or not, flowerhorn is a hybrid cichlid and so this one.  He has great quality fish that it is hard from a local fish store.  I have know many friend from oversee and I should not have a problem to find another one like this SRT.  He is now with a parrot fish and get along very well for sure.  If anyone interesting to buy then let me know.  I might let the price down a little for a fish fan.   Thanks and Cheer everyone.
