Black "quartz scapes" sand available from area pool tile supply. Just rinse once (like rinsing carbon) & pour it in. NPT has it in different grades (grain size) & it was not that expensive cause I bought 2 big bags of it. http://nptgonline.com/nptg_national/finishes_main.html

Fish Ranch is definitely your best bet for the cheapest black sand. Great establishment to support, too!
