This is a large piece of driftwood for your freshwater tank. Dimensions are roughly 13.5 x 20.5 x 9 inches. Great cave areas. It does float, and I'm not sure how to mount it to a plate or something to keep it sunk ... so I want to just get rid of it. Cash only. You not have to mount it to any thing. It just takes time for it to become water logged.Board Member of Houston Aquarium Society

Re: Large Driftwood - $25
If you have a pot big enought to boil it in about 2 to 3 hours. If your just soaking it put it back in the water with some weight on it like bricks or rocks.
For it then submerged it back into the water & give it a couple more weeks. That is a very big piece & it will take some time.Board Member of Houston Aquarium Society

Re: Large Driftwood - $25
Get a couple of piece of Slate rock and drill a hole in it. Then using a screw and mount the wood on the plate. This is how mine stays on the bottom. I cover the slate completely with gravel, but the cichlids love to dig the plate out so its never covered anymore.. hehe

Ceramic tile works well - they have blades to cutt the tile smaller than the inside of your tank and drill bits to mak way for the brass wood screws.'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Re: Large Driftwood - $25
Just because I don't like metals in the tank when avoidable, I usually drill a couple of holes in a piece of slate, then thread either black nylon zip-ties, or very strong monafilament thru the holes and wood (sometimes have to drill a hole in the wood to thread thru). I have one piece that's been submerged for over a year and the darn thing still tries to float if not tied down.
Another thing I've done was stuff some of the large holes in the wood with some large round pond stones.
If you hit one of those surplus tile stores, you can sometimes fine one that will GIVE you their broken slate. I tell them it's to make my fishies happy and they usually look at me funny. Maybe they give it because they think I'm strange and it's the fastest way to get me out of their store? :)The ultimate oxymoron - Narcolepsy and ADHD.
Who says you can`t have it all??!!
