I went to City Pets today to pick up a supplies and of course could not stop walking around in there. I noticed they had a tank with about 40-50 Tropheus Duboisi pokadot juveniles.. After seeing the tank Arm had with his Tropheus I have decided one of these days I have to get a colony.. They are absolutely gorgeous fish. The price on the glass listed them as Tropheus Duboisi @ $6.99 each.

Most Asian owned LFS will have the cheaper Dubs....I have seen them for $4.99ea. Tropheus are really interesting fish! I could watch mine all day long if I didn't have to work to support them

I feel the same way, nice looking when young, bland and boring when adults. But time has a way of changin one's viewpoints....

Duboisi are my favorite Tropheus.
They are what started the whole Tropheus craze for me 10 years ago.
They to me are very striking, with the white stripe, bluehead, and black body. It is fun watching them transform into adulthood.
They present a striking difference to other Tropheus.

I hate to keep inflating Geoff's head here..... But I used to not really care for any of the Tropheus variants. I didn't really see what the big fuss was all about. But to see them displayed as he does.....HOLY CRAP, TALK ABOUT CHANGE ONE'S TOTAL OUTLOOK. There is just something to be said about multiple LARGE colonies of these guys that is just plain awesome. Now if I could just convince the girlfriend that these were the coolest thing since sliced bread....then she wouldn't have such a big issue with forking out a few $$$$ to get some of my own....LOL!!!Comment

My Fiance likes goldfish and thinks they are the "cutest" fish there is.....I was able to swing goldfish into Tropheus.....Try harder 8)

Yeah, she is really hyped up over Discus right now. I'm not to big into them for the price for some of the nicer ones. They are nice just kinda boring. I may have to compromise and get her a few of them and it might help convince her that the Trophs are an "INVESTMENT".....LOL.Comment

I got the Red Cheeks coming, Thursday next week from Atlantis (Peter). I just set up a 150 for them. They were suppose to be here yesturday, but Peter had some issues and could not make it to delver them to Southwest Airlines. He only ships Southwest Airlines (Hobby) on Thursdays.
I was lazy, and did not want to drive all the way to IAH for them. So, I told him I would wait till next week.
That's the thing about Tropheus, you either love them or cannot understand why people like them. My girlfriend used to tell me that she loved the colors, but they had a ugly face. I couldnt tell what she was talking about...
