  • For Sale: MacDonald Hatching Jars

I have 2 MacDonald Hatching jars that I purchased years ago for a koi farming project. We ended up not ever using the jars. Found them again this week when cleaning out the barn. They are clean and never used, but have a few minor scuffs from age. Retail these run anywhere from $85 to $120. I will take $50 a piece and willing to sell them 1 at a time or together. I have have a strange schedule, but I can meet on southwest, west or northwest part of Houston depending on day and time.

These are a flow through egg tumbler with screen on top to keep the eggs in. If you are not familiar with these, here is a link to a website that describes how they are used:
    http://www.fishfarmsupply.ca/mm5/mer...=hatchSupplies

And here is a link to a photo of them in commercial use:
fish, kim, bass, eggs, production, spawn, spawning, jars, striped, mcdonald, hatching, hatchery, stripedbass, morone, saxatilis, bayless, bonneau, moronesaxatilis

They are about 18" tall and 6.5" in diameter. IM me or post a reply.....Thanks

      From the first link:

Simply direct about one gpm of water (depending on the weight of the eggs) into the center. The eggs will be uniformly rotated. The fish hatching jar comes with a top screen that prevents the loss of eggs. When the fish hatch, remove the screen to let the fish swim out.

Screen & center tube are removable. The eggs go in the bottom, the 1 gpm of water drops into the center tube tumbling the eggs, water exits the over flow, screen holds the eggs & fry in, once they hatch you can remove the screen and allow fry to swim out overflow into your grow out tank.
