Ill try to find a name and number tomorrow but there are several landscaping places where you can walk through acres of rocks and pick out what you want for almost nothing. I want to say me and the wife got more than we needed for 2 75 gallon aquariums and had to leave the guy a tip for the hassle to spend 10 bucks since we felt like we were wasting his time making him weight out bits and pices of this or that type. We went the one tucked away near 59 and beltway. Their hours suck though ... I dont even want to wake up before noon on my day off. If you are a big spender and want to blow 12 bucks you could have a 75 gallon aquarium filled with nothing but rocks and no room for fish.
Alamo Stone and Nepco are two places that I have bought stones before. They are on the southwest side of town near the beltway. Google them for address.
Nepco is really really good, http://www.nepco.cc/ you can see their range of rocks online, even if they don't put their prices up their...word of warning though, i think they're onto us ;-) i was looking for base rock for a reef tank, i heard they sold their lace rock to all the lfs, then the lfs cures it and sells it on for a huge profit....well when i called, they were only a buck cheaper per pound than good quality fiji live rock, so i think they may know what we're upto ;-)
I have several pieces of rock that I use to have in a tank. I do not know the name but it is a black or very dark rock with some veins of white in it. I can send pics if interested once I ft home.
