  • For Trade: Koralia 3 for Koralia 2

I have a couple of Koralia 3s that are too big for my 40 breeder. I am looking to do an even trade for a couple Koralia 2s. Mine are in like new condition. PM me with info.

    Thanks

Too big as in physical size, or too big as in too much flow? If the latter, you can mitigate it with a simple mod.

Hook what mod are you referring to? It is a little big in size but when I plug it in it blows sand everywhere. If I can do a simple mod I will go that route.

Yes, a very simple mod. I have a Koralia 3 that I use in a planted tank and it is too powerful, so what I did was used a suction cup, the kind that holds the clips for the Eheim return stems, but it could be any kind. I simply took the stainless steel shaft from the Koralia and centered it in the middle and punched it through. At first it restricted the flow too much, so I simply removed it and cut about 1/4 inch all the way around with scissors and the flow was perfect. It has the effect of causing a little of back flow so nothing gets sucked in, but also a wide gentle flow towards the tank.

Give it a try, it is cheap for sure. I'm guessing any other kind of material would work because the shaft does not spin and so the suction cup is stationary. Let us all know if it works.
