2.50 apiece is actually pretty cheap for them so check the size. i paid closer to 5 bucks apiece for mine but they were 2.5 inch females75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

Its about market value, especially as they can not be bred (or are very difficult to say the least) locally. They live quite some time, I have had them for over a year or two. Unlike other shrimp, most never show up in the sell/trade area unless someone is breaking down the tank.In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

i have been seeing these 'algae eating shrimp' on lists from a nursery out of florida that have been shared with me. it seems that they are some sort of cross breed from grass shrimp and something else. i cant say anything about how effective they are at eating algae, but when i saw those i went over to HAW and gladly paid twice as much for the real deal. if you are trying to stay in a budget and the shrimp arent the priority, the local aquarium clubs may be a place to check as well. I bought some at a GHAC meeting and there is a HAS auction coming up.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

I bought some a few years ago. They both jumped out of the tank and crawled across my apartment. I've heard they are like that in a new tank but eventually settle down. Might want to keep the glass tops on your tank for a few days cause finding a shrimp in your bathroom in the middle of the night is pretty freaky.

i did have a couple of the males take off, they didnt make it past the first cat. now that they settled back down i can take the tops off again with no further issues.Last edited by Totenkampf; 06-06-2012, 04:57 PM.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
