Seriously fish has a great thread concerning their breeding. It looks like very soft acidic water is the trick and apparently once they are settled some owners report finding fry that survive in the main tank with no special care or attention whatsoever. Ours are in a small tank with a Ph of 6.2 or possibly less, they can be found naturally in a Ph of 4.0-6.5. They appear to be micropredators and feed mainly on leaf litter inhabitants and this is recommended for breeding them successfully.
We have nearly a dozen and they are bulking up so I'll certainly post up anything should the mood strike them, lolIn the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

i think the key may be live food, my 50 show no interest in breeding that i can tell. i bet that would change if i started a daphnia culture, it would probably help their colors intensify too75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

I certainly think some live food plays a key. Although I never explicitly fed mine anything living, there are microorganisms in my tank that the rasboras eat.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
