  • Wanted: Pond Fish

We had our pond stocked with catfish, perch, and a couple of koi. After a few years, we now know that both of the koi have died (we found their bodies) and perch numbers are down quite a bit. Moral of the story, it's time to restock our pond. We are open to almost any kind of fish, but I WILL do quite a bit of research and make sure these fish are compatible with what we already have. If it matters, we have turtles-snapping and red eared- and frogs. It is a very large pond, number of gallons unknown. There is a lot of vegetation, and minnows, and this is a spring-fed pond. Let me know what you have and the price you are asking. Thanks!

You should get consulting on the ecosystem you have there. Sometimes the oxygen levels can get low and cause larger fish to die. I doubt anyone here can help you with stocking but when I was at A&M there was a place on highway 21 in bryan called the "Bait Barn" that sold crappie, bass, catfish, and perch by the pound in mostly small and medium sizes. Rule of thumb is to start with forage and go ffrom there. I would stock mostly minnows, perch, and crappie, then add the bass. Maybe you should call a place like the bait barn and ask for guidance.
