Hey everyone, I am looking for some plants that dont require much in the way of light. I am doing a deep water river tank and am looking for things that require little light. If anyone has something that I might be interested in, please send me a PM. Also have 3 nice pieces of holey rock that are listed in the other B S or T section that I would trade for plants. Thanks so much.

Nice to meet you Tek! I am looking for anything really in the grass, broadleaf or moss type plants. Would also consider really any other plants. It is a 65g with the same footprint as a 55g but just a bit taller.65G African Tank (1 Ropefish, 1 Senegal Bichir, 3 Spotted Climbing Pearch, 2 Black Calvus "Zebra", 1 Featherfin Cat, African Knife, 2 Upside down Cats and an African Butterfly Fish.

Nice to meet you too Brandon.
In terms of grasses I have Vals and Sag but the sag is just too small of a plant if you want the tall look.
I have the regular Amazon swords, but they are are still kinda babies ( I have not detached them from the runner). Anacharis would probably reach to the top of that Tank in a matter of days. I am about ready to pull them all up. I cut them to about halfway the tank level and in three days they are already covering the surface of the tank.
I also have clumps of Hornwort that I am still not sure what I want to do with. I am gonna pull up everything and start replanting soon. I have been so busy this summer that I have been neglecting the tank a little and I am not even sure what is all in there. I know there is a Tiger Lotus that looks like the rhizome is about to send out a daughter.
what are you using for substrate? The grasses love nutrient rich soil, the broad leaf plants pretty much grow in anything (from my experience) and the anacharis and Hornwort seem to be just add water plants.

Hey Tek. My substrate is a mixture of PFS and crushed rock. The Anacharis sounds good as I am going for a large plant type tank. Also, vals are really cool. When you get ready to clean some out of your tank, just let me know. I would be more than interested! Thanks for the reply.65G African Tank (1 Ropefish, 1 Senegal Bichir, 3 Spotted Climbing Pearch, 2 Black Calvus "Zebra", 1 Featherfin Cat, African Knife, 2 Upside down Cats and an African Butterfly Fish.

I can give you Anacharis anytime as I chop them weekly. You will be doing the same too. In my experience I have found that the only they don't like is water that is too cold.
As for the Vals I have tons too. When I kept them before they grew to about 5ft tall. This time they seem to be more concerned with putting out babies. I started out with about 5 big 3ft plants about 2 or 3 months ago and now there are probably 75 babies that are about five to 15 inch tall. I have yet to trim the Vals which is really odd. Usually they choke out the light in tanks in a few weeks. Mine reach just shy of the surface and start pumping out babies. I don't know if its the lighting, or photo-period or whatever, but I am not complaining. The fish (especially my angels and rams) seem to love swimming between the blades.

what is the pH in this tank? is the cruched rock substrate calcifierous? that will limit some of the plant choices. you cant go wrong with anubias, valisneria, and java fern in alkyline water. many swords will adapt to it as well. what did you upgrade this lighting to? deeper aquaria can be a challenge for substrate level plants if you are looking for a groundcover.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
