I have decided to sell a few of my tanks and livestock. First of all, I have three very healthy Mudskippers. They are each about 5 to 6 inches long. These “fish” don’t have gills or lungs and take in oxygen through their skin. They spend about 50% of the time in water and the other 50% out of water. These particular mudskippers are from Vietnam and as can be seen in the attached photos, they have beautiful blue highlights in their dorsal fins. They also have interesting blue freckles. They are fast swimmers and believe it or not, their front flippers are so well developed, they are able to move just as fast on land. I know this personally, because one got lose when I was cleaning their tank. A good website to learn about mudskippers can be found at: mudskippers.org I suggest you check that site out for more interesting facts about mudskippers. I also recommend watching the new Men in Black movie. This film features a slightly larger cousin of these guys. If you have seen the movie, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The mudskippers will come with a 38 gal tank (photographed below). The dimensions of the tank are 36” x 12” x 20”. The tank does not have a stand. There is a lot of calcium buildup on the back of the tank, but I keep the front clean. I have some nice pieces of driftwood that allows the mudskippers to spend time out of the water. It is my understanding that these fish can actually drown, if they are not allowed to get out of the water for at least 50% of a given day. I have been using an aerator with a sponge filter to keep the water circulating and clean the filter weekly.
I would like to get $125 for the whole set-up with three mudskippers. I will take $100, if I can keep the light. I will miss these little guys.
