    Re: shell dwellers

the males are the biggest of the species.....you really can't tell when they are juvi's just what they are....unless ek is more astute to the sexing thing...then he can chime in...but that's how i determined the sexes the males will herd a few females to his lair so to speak....and he will keep them all barefoot and babies galore...hehehehehe....

just sit back and watch them do their thing.....

Like FL said... Adults... size.. and a little better coloration when compared... as juvi's nearly impossible.

I am so glad you got some shellies Reba, they are just so fun to look at.  Did you get shells with them ?

Else goto http://www.cichlidbreeding.com/ and you can pick up shells there for cheap.

            Re: SOLD shell dwellers

When I looked at the one FL had most of them were males......females don't get that big.

If anyone is to tell it would be Loretta since she grew them out......you will notice if growing out juvis the ones that have growth spurts are usually the male or a dominant female. Another thing I noticed is the head structure between M/F are different.

In my tank the WC Male will actually chase off upcoming/threatening Males so it's a bit easier to tell.
