  • Wanted: Coral, anemones, clownfish, saltwater rocks

Im starting a tank and the LFS is out of their minds when it comes to prices. They can bite me. I will buy any items you have if they are priced reasonable. A picture would be very helpful. Thank you! Have a blessed day.

FYI. Reef keeping is an expensive hobby.

Seems a lot of people want top notch equipment and livestock for next to nothing.

Check out some other stores you would be surprised in the price differential from 1 store to the next.

Semper is right. Love the hobby but you'll take a hit on the wallet cuz you don't wanna buy cheap crap and eventually gonna have to replace it anyways. Learned the hard way.

best thing to do is not think big... the bigger the stuff the bigger the price... i'm doing a 29 gallon reef tank and it is just fine for me... sand, live rock, and a little fan for current plus a few soft corals and some fish, the only thing that was expensive was one of the rocks bought by mistake... it was 2 pounds at $27.00.. i got hosed on that one

I would check a different LFS. From my experience two of the stores in town beat most online prices. Its also helps if you buy everything from one place so the owner gets to know you.....then sells you and brand new mp40 for $367 :)

Probably bought the purple man-made rocks. Like Jacob has in his tank. Retail they are about $9-11 so you still go hosed.

Back on topic. Good corals are not cheap. You get what you pay for. I like rare nice stuff so I usually go to live aquaria because they generally have the best rare corals at good prices. I will shop at LFS but they generally dont have what I am looking for all the time.

When I set up my 55g, I went really slow. I am only 13 and have no job or allowance. 1. I went to city pets and bought 35 lbs for I think 4.99 or 3.99 a pound. 2. I bought 20lbs of live sand for 40.00. 3. I let it cycle for a long time. 4. Bought some blue green chromis and 2 clowns at Fish land. The clowns were 14.99 (An amazing Deal). I am going to slowly at more fish and LR. But yeah, before I bought any thing I compared prices at all of the stores in H-Town. With all my Birthday money I set up a 55g FOWLR. I also got my coralife protein skimmer for $20 cheaper then retail on amazon.
